Before the COVID-19 pandemic, JD & Liz Byrnes, the founders of Get Outta Here were Senior Consultant and Assistant Team Leader at Flight Centre Travel Group Limited. JD & Liz had become well known within their local community due to their ability to delivery amazing travel experiences. JD & Liz had worked at various stores including Flight Centre Parramatta, Flight Centre Revesby, Flight Centre Bankstown, Flight Centre Bass Hill, Flight Centre Roselands, Escape Travel Bankstown, Flight Centre Tailor Made Bankstown, Flight Centre Cruise Wetherill Park, Flight Centre Ashfield, Flight Centre Summer Hill and Flight Centre Bonnyrigg.
Like many people during the COVID-19 pandemic, both JD & Liz were made redundant from their positions at Flight Centre Travel Group Limited in November 2020.
Get Outta Here was launched just two months later, in January 2021. Shortly after launch, Get Outta Here was approached by Flight Centre Travel Group to become a Flight Centre Independent branded agency, and Get Outta Here soon became the first Flight Centre Independent branded company in Australia.
In May 2022, Get Outta Here had decided to drop the Flight Centre Branding, noting that they had become less independent and less efficient under the agreement with Flight Centre Travel Group. Get Outta Here became a member of the Australian Travel Agents Co-operative in July 2022, and terminated the existing agreement with Flight Centre Travel Group Limited shortly after at the end of September, 2022.
Wyong Plaza Travel was opened in February 2000 in Wyong Plaza, NSW. TravelPlanners Lake Haven was opened in June 2003, and Wyong Plaza Travel became known as TravelPlanners Wyong in October 2006.
In November 2022, Bruce Williams, the Sole Director and Manager of TravelPlanners Wyong sadly passed away due to illness. Get Outta Here was contacted by Bruce’s family in order to ensure that new and existing clients of TravelPlanners Wyong continued to receive the amazing service that they had come to know and expect.
TravelPlanners Australia was registered in December 2022 by Get Outta Here to recognize that TravelPlanners Wyong had clients all over Australia, rather than just the Central Coast region of NSW.
